The Funny Thing About Rain

It's currently POURING rain right now, and like the crazy person that I am I have my window open so that I can get the full effect of it (don't worry, I put a towel along the window so that it won't ruin the wood or anything). There's something that I absolutely love about the smell and sound of rain, which is one of the reasons why I choose to go to school here - it rains so often that I get to be a part of it all the time!

Just before I realized that it was raining I was down in the dining hall getting an over priced smoothie. I've really missed being able to make my own smoothies at home, but I've avoided buying one because it's always bothered me how expensive they are. When I was heading back to my room, I heard someone complain about how much it was raining, so I rushed back to open my window.

The funny thing about rain is that it brings out the best and the worst in people.

For example, there's a well dressed sorority girl teetering across the soaking wet parking lot outside my window in her strappy high heels who appears to be cursing the world for ruining such a great evening. There are also three girls leaning out of their window (near where mine is) smiling and laughing while dangling their limbs out the window.

I really like the rain, some people may even say that I love it! The main thing for me though is that I don't like to be cold, which is normally what happens when it comes to rain. I'll run around in the rain and get soaking wet, and then go inside when I'm too cold to feel my fingers and my nose to take a warm shower and curl up on by an open window wrapped up in several layers of blankets. Rain is my best friend up until I'm freezing cold and I can't do anything about it. Like if I got soaked walking to class and then had to sit and remain cold in class for an hour.

The best part about rain is how much it lingers. After it stops falling from the sky things are still covered in the dewy drops and the hair hangs with the crisp smell of it long after it's gone.

Right now I'm actually getting quite cold... Maybe drinking a smoothie by an open window wasn't such a good idea! Time to brake out my stained old sweatshirt and some blankets. Maybe I'll get adventurous and make some hot coco!

I'm going into Finals Week, but this is such a sure sign to me that everything is going to work out. It's so beautiful and peaceful and clear. I'm going into Finals Week with the sense of calm that can only come from rain, and the confidence that I'm going to make it through this.
