Pink Eye, Filling In, and Missing Class

This past week has been a really hard one for me. I started having issues with my right eye. It was swollen and red and gooey (super gross, I know) but I couldn't figure out what was going on.

Most of the time, if I'm reacting to my mascara or contact solution both of my eyes will be red and swollen, not just one of them. I took to wearing my glasses every day, and I wouldn't wear makeup at all. Millions of times a day I would be rubbing my eye.

Okay, so I wasn't the smartest and I thought that I could just wait it out and it would heal up on its own.

That really isn't what happened at all.

As you know from previous posts, I work in a parking garage booth where I handle people's credit cards when they want to pay. I didn't think about whether or not it was a good idea to go into the booth and be handling hundreds of strangers credit cards where I was also spending so much time rubbing my eye. I even volunteered to fill in for other booth attendants who were sick! I took extra shifts in the booth because I wanted the extra hours, but in a second you'll see why that was a bad idea for me....

My mom was factiming with me, and she could tell through the facetime call that there was something wrong with my eye, and she had me go to the walk in center to get it looked at. I, of course, tried to avoid it. I thought I would get there and the doctor would just tell me to keep doing what I was doing and that it would clear up on it's own, so I will have wasted the money on a doctor's visit.

However, when I got there, the doctor wasn't in the room with me for more than a few minutes before he said that I had PINK EYE! Which is EXTREMELY contagious!

I got the eyedrops to put in to start clearing it up, and let me tell you they make my eye feel a million times better! But I can't help but feel bad about having spread pink eye to everyone who paid at my booth... Even more people came through while I was there because I filled in the extra shifts! So even more people got the germs from me rubbing my eye than normal because I was in there more often than I normally I am! I even went to classes until I found out that I had pink eye! I basically have just spread it to the whole school because those people are most likely going to also spread it! It's one big cycle of itchy eyes and sadness.

Missing college classes isn't something that I would recommend. Back when I had to have my gallbladder taken out I had to miss an entire week of classes, and two weeks of work. I was so far behind after just a week that I never actually caught back up.

I contemplated going to my classes anyway, because I'd gone to them earlier in the week before I knew that it was pink eye that I had, so the other students in those classes probably already have it from it, but I decided against it.

Truth be told, I'm a little worried it'll go through everyone and then come back and hit me a second time...

I'm not entirely sure where I got pink eye from in the first place! Maybe I got it from handling someone's credit card at work... If that were the case, that would make sense. I guess karma may have come back around since I then spread it from the booth instead of someone spreading it to me from outside the booth.

Oh well, at least it's over with for now!

I'll see you on Tuesday.
