Rainy Season

(I got my rain boots in this photo from www.joulesusa.com - HERE)

This winter went on forever! It was not letting go easily! We had so much snow, and then it all melted, and then we got just as much snow back again. Even after that snow was mostly gone, it would still start snowing randomly almost every day. I was beyond sick of the snow and the cold.

I happen to live in a really rainy state, so ending snow meant starting rain.

At first I was perfectly happy with this, because rain isn't nearly as cold or lingering as snow is. However, after several days of feeling soggy and looking up into gray/cloudy skies I was wishing for the summer.

Betcha that when it's the summer I'll be wishing it was the winter again so it would snow and I could cool off!

In all seriousness though, I'm not hugely against rain. It's actually one of the reasons I wanted to go to school here. I'm from a desert state, so a state with a lot of rain seemed really amazing to me when I was choosing which school I wanted to attend. However, it's not all I thought it would be. Rain is great for a day or two, but a week straight of rain isn't the greatest thing in the world.

One of the first things I did when I realized exactly how much rain I'd be going through was buying actual rain boots and a rain jacket. Since I got those things the rain has been easier to withstand... Haha

I've  been a student here for almost 2 years now, and I consider myself an expert when it comes to handling the rain! When my mom was up visiting, it kind of made me laugh because she'd try to wear regular shoes, and use an umbrella (with the rain comes a lot of wind here - umbrellas just break) as well as wearing a thin jacket that didn't have a hood on it.

Right away I got her all fixed up with some boots and a hooded coat.

Rain can be miserable without the right gear, that's for sure!

I'm glad to be done with the winter and the snow, but now that it's raining I'm seriously wishing for the summer! Unlike with the snow, I'm at least more fitted for the rain, which is a good thing. I'm sure I'll make it through this rainy season and into the summer a lot easier than I went from the winter into this rainy season.

Do you have a favorite season? Are you equally as happy as I am that there won't be any more snow?

I'll see you on Tuesday!

  1. I like the winter when everything feels cosy (especially christmas)and you can have the fire on but then I also like summer because it's my birthday and I get the summer holidays to spend with my family. Then theres autumn and I love autumn colours, but spring has so many lovely flowers come up! No I don't have a favourite I love particular thing about each one!
