May 2017 Overview

May was a nerve wracking, but happy month for me. At the beginning of the month I had my final exams, and the wait to find out about my grades. Luckily everything went well and I got the grades that I needed!

My summer vacation from school began, which also meant my 30 hours a week at work began. I'm really glad for the work, and the ability to pay for so much myself. However, walking around in a hot parking lot giving out tickets or sitting in a hot parking garage booth wasn't exactly how I pictured my summer being. I'm mostly excited to go back to my hometown for July to actually relax and do some more summery things.

May was really glorious in that my awful roommate finally moved out!! :D It's so nice to be in the apartment alone - I don't have to worry about taking out the trash all the time, or how many dishes there are, or how the place smells.

The only thing is that I haven't been able to get the smell out of the room that was hers... It smells like there's something rotting in there, but I can't find it. For the time being I've just been keeping the door to that room closed so that the smell doesn't go all over the apartment.

One of the big things that happened in May was my surprise trip home to see my family for a few days. I was beyond excited to see them, and my pets, and to be in my own bed! No one could believe that I'd pulled off a surprise as big as that without letting it slip even a little bit that I was coming.

For the month of May, I'm really proud of all of the things that I was able to do! I'm especially proud that I learned how to back into a parking space - which was something I'd never been taught before.

At work I'm allowed to drive company cars, which requires the ability to back them into their designated spaces at the end of my shifts. At first they told me it was okay not to back in, but that I needed to learn how. Nothing's better than getting paid to learn a new driving skill on the job! I spent a few days out in empty parking lots practicing, and I had the help of some of my coworkers. The first time I went and backed the car in on my own my coworkers clapped and told our boss that I deserved a raise! Haha

I hope you had a great May as well! Let me know what you did, or if you learned any new skills during the month :) I'll see you on Tuesday.
