September 2017 Overview

September was mostly a month of catch-up and midterms and getting ready for Fall to finally be here!

One of the major things that's happened in my life was signing up to help take care of some rabbits that a graduate student had for a research project about behavior. I go early in the mornings twice a week before my classes to take care of them, and I absolutely love it. It's also a great way for me to make some higher up connections to be able to get a foot in the door with some other animals.

When it comes to my life plan and my goals, I don't want to be limited in the types of animals that I can work with, so while I'm still in school I want to gain as much experience as I can working with as many different types of animals as I can.

For the most part, I had a lot of midterms, but there are still a few more to come in October. Exams aren't my strong suit, but I've been doing well at them so far, which is great! I enjoy almost all of my classes because a majority of them are belonging to my majors and what I actually want to do.

Along with September came football season, which is a big deal for the department I work for, and took up a majority of my weekends. It's actually really nice to be able to think about having weekends off after the season ends! I was basically living on energy drinks and leftovers in the work fridge, which isn't super surprising for a college student, but isn't really a great way to live life.

Fall is my favorite season of all time, so I'm beyond happy about the weather getting cooler, the leaves changing, and all of the awesome seasonal drinks and clothes! The leaves where I live haven't started changing yet, but as soon as they do I'm sure I'll get lots of great photos up of all of them!

One of the most exciting things that happened in September was that I got my guinea pigs approved by the school, so they're no longer smuggled in, they're actually allowed to be here. No more trying to sneak in guinea pig food or bedding or hay! Plus, now I can call maintenance to come fix the bathroom sink in my apartment without worrying about them seeing my guinea pigs and turning me in to housing. Which is great because now housing is aware that I have them, and I can having a non-leaky sink!

I ordered quite a few books in the month of September, which I'm really excited to read. I got out of the habit of reading, and I miss getting wrapped up in a good book. Now that I have some new books of my own to read, and the determination to actually sit down to read them, I'm really happy to be rekindling one of my favorite things to do. I may or may not write up some reviews of the books - let me know if that's something that you'd want!

All in all, I would say that September was my busiest month by far, but now that the weather is cooling off and my first round of exams are almost done things are really looking up! I'm hoping for a fun and kind of lazy October!

How was your September? Do you have any plans for the month of October? I'd love to know!

I'll see you on Thursday
