Nail Stamping Haul

Back at the end of January and into February, I fell down the beautiful rabbit hole that is Simply Nailogical videos... Although I am not as talented when it comes to nail art and the use of nail vinyls, I'm pretty good at doing nail stamping (which is actually something that Cristine doesn't like very much). So I went online and did a big order of nail products that I was super excited to get and use!

This is the Bliss Kiss Simply Peel Latex Barrier, which I've seen nail artists use but wasn't totally sold on before watching a bunch of Simply Naiogical videos. I haven't totally gotten the hang of it yet but so far it's saved me a lot of time, and has saved my cuticals from large amounts of nail polish remover. It's easy to apply, it dries quickly, and it is easy to remove. A big plus is that it peels off in one big piece, which is extremely satisfying.

For the nail stamping, one of the sets of plates that I bought came with a dual sided clear stamper and a scraper. I already had a stamper and scraper from a previous set that I had, but I actually have come to prefer the clear stamper becuase it's much easier to apply the stamps onto my nails how I want. The scrapter that came with this set works but I wouldn't say that it works better than the scraper I already have. I think that if this was your only scraper it would work fine, but it does bend which makes it harder to get a clean scrape in the nail plate.

Now on to the beautiful nail stamping plates that I got! First of all, the packaging that they came in was beyond beautiful! I almost felt bad opening them to get the plates out becuase they were so cute. I did my best to take photos of each of the plates so that you could see that patterns that I chose. I tried to go for more full nail patterns rather than french tip or smaller individual shapes just because I personally like the look and have an easier time applying full nail patterns. I've tried a few different brands of nail stamping plates, and I personally prefer the Born Pretty brand. The patterns are amazing, there's so much variety, and they all translate really well onto the nail.

VNYL Subscription - Month 1

Back in December, I was given a record player for Christmas! I love it, but having only a christmas album and a musical wasn't cutting it for me. I combed through the internet a bit to see what records I might want and how much they cost and whether or not I wanted them when comparing them to the cost. Everntually, on my Instagram account, a sponsored post for Vnyl popped up, and I was totally interested in signing up.

Vnyl is basically a subscription service that curates records for you based on your music taste and a "Vibe" based on some playlists that they've creadted that you choose at the beginning of every month. They have different subscription options depending on how many months you want to receive records. I signed up for the 3 records a month for 3 months, which was $99, and I chose my first vibe, which was "2020 Vision" and entered in music that I love and some of my favorite artists.

Now, $99 may seem like a lot to spend on 9 records, but it's actually a great deal! Purchasing individul records can cost at least $20-30 per record! And this is a good way to get introduced to new artists! The best part is that you get to keep all of the records that you're sent forever and ever. They also have records for sale that you can purchase and have sent in addition to your three records if you want a specific album and they have it.

The only downside was the amount of time that shipping took, given that I chose standard shipping. At one point I questioned when it would actually arrive, but when it did I was overjoyed with what I got

The records come in beautiful pink packaging with a tear strip on one end to open it up.

The package opens with a sort of flap, and inside I got some stickers, a note, a cover sheet that contained the released dates for some other albums, and an actually handwritten note before getting to the records themselves.

I absilutely loved that the note was really handwritten, and that it was specifically talking about the records that were chosen for me this first month. I was a little bit aprehensive at first, because the only one I had heard of previously was Sia, but as soon as I listened to them I knew that they had picked the perfect records for me!

Where they were going off of the music that I said that I liked and the vibe that I picked, I can tell that they really take the time to pick records that I'll actually love, which is what makes me so excited to continue to recieve more of these. They didn't just send me albums from artists I already said that I liked, they instead found new artists that are now my favorites.

Two Vines by Empire of the Sun
1000 Forms if Fear by Sia
The Alter by Banks

If you have a record player, I would 100% recommend this service! They also make a great gift - they have a whole section that allows you to gift the subscription service on their website. So far, the only potential downside could be the time that it takes for shipping, but there is the option for faster shipping if you're willing to pay a little extra.

What do you think about this service? Would you sign up? Let me know! I'll see you on Tuesday

**This post was not sponsored, I purchased the subscription with my own money and found the company via a suggested post on social media.

February 2018 Overview

I've written and rewritten this post a million times in my head but I haven't been able to get across everything that happened in the month of February in a way that makes a whole lot of sense! Originally this post was set to go up at the beginning of March, but I wasn't happy with it and I didn't have time to go back through the whole thing... So I guess you could say that my new year's resolution to never miss a Tuesday and Thurday posting is already really out the window! I just didn't want to post something that I wasn't happy with for the sake of getting something posted.

Unlike January, which felt like a year all by itsself, February flew by quicker than I thought possible! It was full of school and work and sleeping! I spent a lot time in my room in my apartment, just taking a lot of time for myself.

I was still feeling a lot of the residual emotions and stuff left over from my breakup in January throughout the month of February. I was able to take care of my two piercings into the month of February and trying to sort out what I was feeling, I do think that I'm doing and feeling a lot better than I did before, and I've actually realized looking back on the relationship what a negative effect it was actually having on me. The only thing is that I still get upset when I know he's working at the same time as me, or when I hear people talking about him, or if I can hear him talking from across the office. I still need to work on it, but I'm doing much much better.

Another thing coming from a relationship-ish place, Valentine's Day went by and I was happy to be more focused on my family and friends rather than focusing on myelf or on my relationship status.

February was also a month where I found more stability in myself, which I'm probably going to do a post about later on because I have too many things to say about it than I can really put in here.

I also ordered a few things in the month of February that I'm looking forward to doing haul and review posts about.

Hmm... What else happened in the month of February?

At the end of February I started feeling really overwhelmed with everything I had going on. Picking classes for next fall semester, the amount of homework I had stupidly put off until then, some exams, and some personal issues that I had going on. My blog, unfortunatly, went on the back burner because of everything that I had going on in addition to me not being happy with any of the posts that I was coming up with.

I was able to get everything that I needed to done, and I was able to go into the month of March feeling slightly less overwhelmed but I still took some time off from posting to try to come up with more things that I wanted to post about (which is part of why I ordered some things to then post about them).

I'm looking forward to the other posts that I've got planned at this point, so I'm hoping to be getting back into the swing of posting at my regular times!

I'll see you on Thursday
