July 2018 Overview

July was crazy, and I'm so happy that it's over!

I got to go home for the first week in July to celebrate the 4th with my family, which was nicer than I thought that it would be. It was my first time staying in my parents new house, and although I overall am not a fan of the house, it was good to be back with my family. I also had Pepe with me (He did the drive like a champ and was spoiled as all get out once we got there) which was really nice.

One of the highlights of getting to be back in my home town was to be able to see my grandma and watch some movies with her, and I was able to see one of my friends who had been gone for several years in Brazil!

While I was back at school, work was mostly about the upcoming permti cycle and stuffing envelopes to be able to mail those permits out to people. There were several students who got back early and were mad that they couldn't buy the new permits yet because they didn't want to buy a different permit to use until they can buy the new permits... It was a whole mess.

Aside from the usual work and sleep routine that I've talked about all summer, I got mice...

One of my coworkers found two baby mice in one of the parking garages on campus (there are a set of owls that live in that garage so we knew what happened to the mom and the others in the litter)  they had their fur but they hadn't opened their eyes yet. He put them into a box and brought them to our office, where he was pomptly told that they couldn't stay in the office. My roommate wasn't super happy about it, but I brought the mice home and I got them set up in a 5.5 gallon tank with a wooden house. I got a 1mL syringe (without a needle, of course) to feed them a milk formula.

What was rough about this was that I needed to feed the mive every 3-4 hours both night and day. I was still working, and then over night I had alarms to get up to be able to feed them.

After a few days of doing that, I was totally drained and I was spending all my free time sleeping!

I'm planning on doing a post all about the mice, but they were the ones who took up all of my time and kept me from writing up posts in my spare time.

The mice have now opened their eyes and gotten weaned and not I have my nights back to be able to sleep, which is really exciting!

All in all, July was crazy, and I'm really looking forward to having the structure of school again (I know I'll regret that later.. Haha).

August is here, and I have school starting! So if there are any school related posts that you guys want to see be sure to let me know! I'll see you on Thursday!
