September 2018 Overview

I think that I always start out these overviews with how busy I was or how overwhelmed I got... Which isn't something that's going to be changing anytime soon! I've got a lot of things to update you all on, and that I want to say, so get some snacks and strap in for a doosey of a post with some updates for how things are going to be moving forward with this blog as well!

I'm going to start with the changes for this blog. In previous years I've done my best to post every Tuesday and Thursday, and for a long time that worked out really well for me and I could manage that many posts with my schedule pretty well. With my current schedule that's been really hard for me and I haven't been able to get nearly as many posts done as I would like. So for the time being I'm going to change to having posts on Tuesdays every week rather than trying to post twice a week. I'm hopeful that this will be more manageable for me and that I'll be able to get back into the swing of writing blog posts without the added pressure of trying to write two posts a week. Thanks in advance for understanding and for supporting what I do here!

Okay, with that out of the way, I'm going to get into how things were this past month!

This month was full of a lot of things for me, but it's the first genuinely really happy I've been in a long time. I had some really amazing days where I was just happy to be alive and out in the world!

I treated myself to some new nail art things (I'm planning on doing a haul later, and some more nail art posts so be on the look out for those!) and I got some awesome Fall themed things. As you guys know I love my candles, so I for sure had to go to Bath and Body Works when their fall scents were available. I've been smelling like pumpkin for a few weeks now, so I hope the people around me appreciate it as much as I do! I've been unbelievably excited about Fall and the changes in the weather and the leaves.

Where I live the leaves have already started to change! Before I would have included some amazing photos of the view that I have from my apartment, but as you can see from the top photo they've dug up the cat tails and drained the body of water that was there before so it's pretty muddy and empty rather than being a beautiful fall view like it was in previous years. At first I was really alarmed by this work when they first started because it was assumed that they were going to build more apartments on it and we would be losing the beauty and the birds, but they're doing this work to deepen and widen the body of water so that it could potentially be stocked with fish and then at that point it's assumed that the cat tails and wildlife will return.

I do miss having such a great view though...And the sounds of birds.

As you already know, I now have three guinea pigs, so I spent a lot of time with them this past month really loving on them! I have also spent a lot of time washing my bed sheets because accidents happen and I have two male pigs... Although Gus has for sure been one to pee all over my bed as well. I've been on the look out for new sheets, especially with winter coming, so I'm hoping to be able to replace the sheets that I have now and hopefully keep the new set safe from my pigs!

One of the really big things for me has been focusing on  my self care. I know I mentioned before that I have been working really hard to get my mental health to a better point, and that's been a major improvement in my life. I wish that I had started down this road a lot sooner but I let a lot of things hold me back! So if you're reading this and you're putting off getting help with your mental health I highly recommend it! I know you've probably heard a lot of sponsored posts and videos from people about Better Help but that's what I use (this isn't sponsored) and it's made a huge difference in my life. However in an emergency situation be sure to know your resources and contact them and not Better Help.

One of the things that I've been doing for my self care has been reading. I feel like I lost that part of me as I've gotten older and had less time to sit down with a good book that wasn't required for a class and just read. I've gotten some newer books from writers that I love that I'm excited about getting to read in the upcoming days! I've also gotten kind of sick of watching shows? For some reason I feel like I've watched everything that I want to and I don't have new content that's interesting to me and can really hold my attention so it's been really nice to take a break from shows and movies to be able to read some amazing books.

I've also still been keeping up with trying to swap out the products that I use with vegan and cruelty free products so a lot of the shower products I've been using recently are from LUSH and I've been loving them! I feel really good about how they're made and what's in them, and they're great products so my hair and skin are feeling really good too. I don't know whether or not I'll do a full post about the products that I've been using and loving but if that's something that you'd like to see be sure to leave a comment and let me know!

When it comes to school, things have still been pretty rough. I'm feeling a lot better with myself and with the direction my life is going, but school takes up a lot of my time and energy and I get overwhelmed pretty quickly with it all. I'm taking classes that I am interested in and enjoying, they're just turning out to be harder than I had originally anticipated so I'm needing to spend more time on them than I set out to. Luckily I have my planner to keep everything organized and a great set of people in my life to support me and remind me that I'm doing a great job even when it feels like I'm struggling!

Something that I want to get back into are taking more photos. I used to do whole posts of just photos but I sat my camera down to focus on other things and I'm really wanting to pick it back up again! I have a great Halloween post of photos planned that I'm really excited about, and I know it'll feel really good to get back into photography.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my September and some of the changes that are going to happen with this blog! What happened in your September? I would love to know!

I'll see you on Tuesday
